God’s plan
is for us to be his dwelling place. That is why Paul says, “your body is the
temple of the holy spirit” 1 cor6:19. God is not looking for beautiful buildings
to inhabit or shrines to live in; but he is I search of a willing heart to
welcome him. Isaiah 66:1-2 says, “Heaven is my throne and the earth is my
footstool. Where is the house you will build for me? Where will my resting
place be? Has not my hand made all these things, and so they came into being? Declares
the lord. The one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and
trembles at my word.”
God is
looking for a person who is humble and obedient to his word, so that he can
live inside of that person. Who is God? God is love. If God dwells in you, you
feel the presence of love (Romans 5:5), and become a giver of God’s love. St Paul gives us the
stages of being filled with the fullness of God, “for this reason I kneel before
the father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name.
I pray that out of his glorious riches, he may strengthen you with power
through his spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts
through faith. And I pray that you being rooted and established in love , may
have power together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high
and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that
you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God” (Ephesians 3:14-19).
When we receive
Christ into our hearts, he gives us the revelation of the greatness of his love,
the width, length, depth and height of his love. We don’t understand the
strength of God’s love if the spirit does not give us the ability. It is the Holy
Spirit that will help us to feel the force of God’s love. We are to experience
the love of God powerfully within us, so that we can become distributors of it.
Ask the spirit to bring the love of God alive in you.
