There are times when all you get out of life are
discouragements. At times, it will look as though troubles in life have decided
to locate you.
This reminds me of a man who had narrated his story to me
some time ago. He had just received a call from the local police station to
come and identify the corpse of his seven years old daughter crushed in a
ghastly motor accident on her way back from school. He raced nervously to the
station along with his teenage son. But as soon as his son caught sight of his
dead sister, he collapsed. Reviving him wasn’t an easy thing at all. He was
eventually rushed to the intensive care unit in a nearby hospital. The father, who
was by now besieged by distress and pain decided to rush home and get a few
things that the son would need. Just five minutes into the journey another
ordeal broke upon the man and his driver. What was it? Armed robbers! The dare
devils didn’t appear keen on doing more harm. All they wanted was the car. So
in a few seconds, the man was pushed out of the car and was left in the cold,
while the driver was ordered at gunpoint to drive the robbers away. For this
man, it did appear that everything was against him. He was being beaten by the
waves and the wind was seriously against him. He
battled it in faith and the Lord saw him through.
Does it seem like the winds of life are tugging at you? And
the waves are beating you? Even if it does, don’t worry because you are not
alone in that experience.
Just arise up your head and you will see Jesus walking on
the sea in front of you. He has the solution to your
problems. Indeed, sorrows may endure through the night but in the morning there
will be joy. Never allow your faith to dwindle. Just hold on to the Lord.
Believe, like peter that whatever Jesus tells you to do is best.
Summon the courage to take the
various steps of faith that Jesus might want you to take. Don’t listen to the
wind; listen to the command of Jesus. Look up to Jesus the author and finisher
of your faith. Don’t doubt what the lord can do through you. The wind in your
life will obey Jesus if you walk in faith.
